About Our School

Family-Centered and Inclusive
Since 1973, the Child Development Center (CDC) of Central has offered a full-day program for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years of age.
Dedicated to fostering an inclusive community and supporting the holistic development of children, the CDC strives to provide an environment that honors the racial, ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic diversity of the city. To ensure that as many working parents as possible have access to this service, tuition is competitively priced and some scholarships funded by gifts and endowments are also available.
The Child Development Center incorporates a family-centered approach, recognizing and respecting parents as the most important influence in the lives of their children. The Child Development Center works with them in close partnership. Teachers seek to provide a nurturing environment where parents are always welcome.
Under the leadership of an executive director and a program manager, the Child Development Center of Central employs professionally trained teachers, maintains low teacher-to-child ratios, and provides high quality care and education for young children.
The center is governed by a Board of Directors composed of parents, members of Central Presbyterian Church and individuals with expertise in early childhood education. This Board reports to the Session, the governing body of Central Presbyterian Church. Central Presbyterian Church provides free space, utilities and maintenance services for the Child Development Center.
